FINDING YOUR LIFE PURPOSE

FINDING YOUR LIFE PURPOSE

As we begin a new year, it can be helpful to take a moment or a few, to check in with ourselves. Many of us get caught up in the routine of doing what we do, without assessing if it is what we truly want to be doing. Recently, I had my Practice Management students watch a Time Management video and report on what they learned from it and how the suggestions might improve their lives. One of the recommendations they all enthusiastically wanted to adopt is to notice your internal response when asked to do things and based on that response decide when to say "yes" or "no." If your physical/emotional/mental reaction is "Hell, YES!" then do it, otherwise just say no. As you think about "new beginnings," open up to what you are passionate about. Here is a great little journalling exercise to help you find your passion.

FIND YOUR PASSION

  1. What was your favorite thing to do growing up?

  2. When you were a child, what did you dream of doing when you grew up?

  3. What is your favorite topic to talk about?

  4. What do you like doing so much that you lose track of time?

  5. Whose life do you envy the most and why?

  6. What would you do differently with your education if you got a chance to start over?

  7. If you had 5 minutes and the whole world was forced to listen, what would you say?

  8. What would you do with your life if you had no fear?

  9. What would you do with your life if you had a guarantee of success?

  10. What would you do with your life if money wasn't an issue?

Signs You May Not Be Aligned

  1. Feeling Unfulfilled: Even when everything seems “fine,” there’s a persistent feeling that something is off.

  2. Restlessness: You might feel trapped in routines or situations that don’t inspire or excite you.

  3. Lack of Passion: Activities and roles that once energized you may now feel like a chore.

  4. Inner Conflict: A deep sense of yearning for something you can’t quite identify.

These signs are not failures; they’re invitations to explore a deeper part of yourself.
